Goodby Mustang, Hello Jeep

Gavin got a BIG 2 month birthday present last night. After 6 hours of hanging out at CarMax, we ended up selling the Mustang and buying a 2006 Jeep Commander. Gavin was pretty sad to see the Mustang go, but really likes the Commander.

My Little Peanut

We had a very busy week. I started back to work on Monday. I am working from home since Gavin is on the heart/respiratory monitor. Even though I am working from home, it is definitely a challenge to get a routine down.

Tuesday Gavin was running a fever, so he was a little cranky that day. So Wednesday, Grandma came and picked him up so he could spend the morning with her. He loved that! Both Sayle and I had to go into the office on Friday, so Granny and Grampy got to keep Gavin. Gavin enjoyed himself! He even got to see his Aunt Kim. Even though he slept most of the time, Gavin enjoyed seeing her.

Baby Nicholas

Gavin's cousin Nicholas made his entrance into the world tonight. He was born at 10:22 pm. He weighs 6 lbs 9 oz and is 20 inches long. He is just about as big as Gavin is.
Jackson is very excited about having a baby brother. Both Christy and Nicholas are doing great!

Scare

Gavin decided to give his daddy a scare last night. I was already in bed and Sayle was playing on his computer. Then all of a sudden Gavin's monitor went off. Sayle looked over at Gavin and he was white as a ghost and was not breathing. Sayle immediately stimulated Gavin and he started to breath again. As much as that monitor is a pain to carry around, I am definitely glad that we have it. That is the first real apnea incident that we have had since Gavin has been home.

Gavin had a very busy day today. He visited both Sayle and my offices. He wanted everyone to know he had a great time and enjoyed meeting all of you! He said he will try to be more awake next time he visits.

Gavin and Julie

James and Julie came over to visit last night. I think Julie and Gavin hit it off.
Gavin had his first shopping experience today. We went to Kohls to buy some clothes that I can fit into. He enjoyed looking around. Thank goodness were not to the "I want" stage yet.

Noob, I am your father

Sayle and Gavin enjoyed watching Blizz Com today on PPV. For those you don't know, Blizz Com is a big gaming event that is held by Blizzard. Sayle was teaching Gavin how to be a "gamer."

Boppy

Gavin is 6 weeks old today. He continues to get stronger every day. Today during tummy time, he was trying hard to get his knees under him to scoot. We decided to try out to our boppy. Gavin seemed to enjoy it.

Granny's Visit

It looks like Granny enjoyed her visit today.

1st Pediatrician Visit

We met our pediatrician today - Dr. Mobley. We liked him. Gavin had his 2 month checkup (eventhough he is only 6 weeks old).
Gavin received 3 of his immunization shots and will get 3 more in 2 weeks. He only cried for a second when they gave him the shots. The only mishap we had was our "little peeing machine" decided to pee on the weight scale. Way to go Gavin!
He is now 6 lb 5 oz and is 20 5/8 inches long.
The pediatrician office even does flu shots for the parents, so Sayle and I both got our flu shots.
I guess it was a shot day for the Shipman family.

Bath Tiime

Last night was bath night. Aunt Kelly came over to help with Gavin's bath.

Hanging out in my carseat

Now that Gavin is home, he enjoys hanging out in his carseat while mom and dad work on their computers.

GO COWBOYS

Gavin's first football game.

Homecoming

After "rooming in" at the hospital, mommy and Gavin were very ready to come home. Mommy didn't get to sleep more than an hour or two. It was her first night to have Gavin all night.

Gavin's doctors decided to let Gavin come home on a home heart rate/apnea monitor. He is still having bradycardios and apnea episodes.

Gavin was 6.5 lbs and 20 inches long when he was discharged from the hospital.

Tater was very interested in Gavin. He isn't quite sure what this little noise making thing is.

Week 5 in the hospital

Gavin got to have the feeding tube taken out. He was eating 8 bottles a day. He has turned into a little "piggy".

We were waiting him to stop having bradycardio and apneas for him to be able to come home.

Week 4 in the hospital

Gavin started eating from a bottle at least once a day. He still had to be tube fed for most of his feeding. The tube was moved from his mouth to his nose so he could get a better seal on the bottle. He was a wake more, so we could see his pretty blue eyes.

Week 3 in the hospital

Gavin was able to keep his temperature up, so he got to wear clothes and sleep in a bassinet instead of an incubator. He was having trouble breathing, so he had to have an air tube in his nose to help keep his lungs open. He was not on oxygen, just room air.

Week 2 in the hospital

Gavin enjoyed hanging out with mommy and daddy when they came to visit.

Week 1 in the hospital

During the first week of Gavin's life, he took time out of his busy growing schedule to have kangaroo time with his mommy.

Gavin is sleeping peacefully.

Gavin Came Early

As most of you know, Gavin Salathiel Delane Shipman decided to enter this world a little early. He was born on 8/28/08, which was a little over 7 weeks early.
Gavin was 4.1 lbs and 17 1/4 inches long when he was born.
